Time for an English summary... and a question regarding multiple-day training races

The season is almost over.... My final goal is my first marathon this Sunday in Cologne, Germany. The weather is supposed to be decent and the temperature as well, so I think I will have no excuses for failure. As I am decreasing my running km this week, I am getting really excited to finish off the season with the 42km. After that, I am off to southern Italy for a road and MTBike holiday. Frankly, I may be hitting the beach more than the saddle!
Next year, I was going to head for the iron man, but the gigathlon is too tempting and I have led myself be lured into a crazy 7-day endurance race. The Dr. says it is ok, provided I do a lactate test on a treadmill instead of an ergometer to get some accurate values that take into account my upper body muscles as well.
Anybody out there reading my blog who has done a multiple day race (more than 3) or knows somebody who does? I have tons of questions about nutrition, recovery, sleep... Would be great to bounce off some ideas!
