Runners' high.... or low?

Uefa Final... erreichbares Ziel?

tough....coupling!

I need a gigathlon partner urgently because my motivation is going down. I am still hurt by Torsten pulling out, and I can't get the other guy to commit (which I heard should be much easier to a sporting event than in a relationship *smile). I put way too much on my shoulders last weekend, and it drained me for the whole week. So the lesson is: Selected social life, instead of overdoing it. Between chores, training and friends it was too much... even this week is really busy with so many evening commitments.

So, for the coming weekend, I have one goal only: training enough. The rest will come at priority 2! Also, the weather is a killer. I am never weather-dependent for my moods, but I get wet on my way to or from work every day these days.... that is not inspirational to go MTB or road biking...

The next blog should be more optimistic, I hope!

Training Day! Yes!

Keeping it short today.
Monday:
detour on the way home on my bike...18km
1 hour spinning, a 152, max 164
I sweat like a pig today....feeling great, ended my spinning season on a techno version of lambada... after 55' of spinning, anything goes I guess. Now it is time to hit the outdoors!!!

Sunday:
1.25 hour weights.
1 hour spinning, a 122, max 147
1.25 hour coupling training at 5' intervalls, a 138, max 170 (at 12.5km/hr)

Great day, sweat out the cold and starting healthy into the new week.

Bilder

Bild 4 - meine beiden TREKs
Bild 5 - unsere Radlergruppe in Mallorca.

My dates on a Friday night: 0

Yes, something private can go on this blog too, right? Well, for better or worse, I am doing my coupling training tonight, since there were no treadmills yesterday. What does that mean - wait until everybody else is out partying (after 8 p.m.) and go to the gym...

Pumping was fun yesterday - surrounded by about 20 men who thought they were tremendously sexy despite their 10 kg of fat on top of their protein-drink supported muscles....grrrr! One latino actually came and pointed out a mistake to me - in Spanish. Well, I listened carefully and corrected, but couldn't respond much more than VALE and GRACIAS. Just can't get myself to do machines, and in the free weight section, there are never women... in the US, that was different.

I was supposed to do the duathlon on Sunday, but decided with the crap weather, I better stick to training than to head out there for a 1.5 hour race...not worth it.

Hope you have a nice weekend! Nadine

P.S. My potential gigathlon partner still hasn't made up his mind...

Spinning and more

Yesterday, I had my first post-Mallorca spinning class. With considerably more resistance, I had a lower pulse than I did before. Finally got my bike back and had a nice ride into work today. Rainy but at least not cold any more!

Today:
muscle work
45 min crosstrainer (no free treadmills.... couldn't do coupling training!)
m135 , a 128

Yesterday:
60 minutes spinning, "Entwicklungsbereich"
m164, a 138

A winner! Back in gear!

I spent a lot of yesterday contemplating when would be the best time to run, because I wasn't in the mood. Some days, between getting up at 5 to do my day job, train and have a social life, my motivation fades. But then this moment of triumph hails and I get excited. Today, I ran home 15 minutes faster than previously.. 1 hour 3 min for 12.5 km. Enough of basic training, I can finally go for strength and speed! My lactate endurance is good enough, now the fun begins! My left knee hurts a bit...

Today, it is a very grey day, so good that I have indoor spinning scheduled. If I get my work done quickly, I may be able to get in an hour of muscle before. Otherwise, that will be tomorrow's task, together with coupling training (is this the right word for Kopplungstraining?).

Had two beers yesterday. Since January 1, I have had almost no alcohol. When you treat yourself, you surely enjoy it. And my dinner date did, too, since I became even more talkative. He did say he only listened to 40% of what I said, however!

Early triumph? Not really!

Motivation? high? Did I mention it got cold and rained? Usually not a
problem, but after a week of sun, a drainer. Well, I decided it was ok to
take two days off after the training week...laundry instead of weights.
Today, it rains even more, but no more excuses. I am running home today,
probably take the 8 mile route. Just a matter of getting out the warm gear
until the spring finally comes.

And I ate way too much yesterday. Don't want to gain back what I lost in
Mallorca.

Monday bloody Monday

Just trying to eat less than I have been during my training camp is hard! And an office day! Harder! Tried to get into the spinning lesson tonight, but I guess there is a bike-saddle-god which declined this endeavor...the class is full. I will do interval and weights training.

I asked a new man to do the gigathlon with me. Hope it works out! I am so full of motivation and energy...Mallorca rocked me! START2DAY!

zurück in Basel!

Today in English... 700 km and almost 13'000 vertical meters, I bought another bike (I know it is getting slightly ridiculous, but this one is brilliant for mountaineous terrain!) and a bit of a mental rollercoaster. Torsten is no longer too interested in endurance sports... he bailed out on me, which leaves me searching for a new gigathlon partner.

The training camp was excellent, because I could reduce my pulse by 10-15 bpm with equal slopes and speed! Endurance training successfully controlled despite the thrills that come from riding in a group. Thursday and Saturday I went wild on the mountain, hiking the pulse up to do strength training.

The next weeks? Intervall training and Kopplungstraining, which I don't know in English...biking.running.biking.running.biking.... get the drift?

4 weeks and I am off to Mallorca again. If you are looking for a personal atmosphere, excellent infrastructure and fun people, I can recommend Phillips Bike Team in Mallorca.

Freue mich schon jetzt riesig!
